Hola, gente.

Me llamo María José. I’m a journalist from Colombia but my true love is creative writing. I have lived in the U.S. for more than 10 years, performing all sorts of jobs, that I somehow found not very meaningful. Meanwhile, Spanish language is something I have always been deeply passionate about, and creating content that is original and that speaks to Latin American people is what I do best. So, I finally decided to come out to the world as a writer, a creative person and a storyteller. That’s why I started Cosa Curiosa, and to be able to meet some amazing people on the way (yes, you).

Additionally, we have something bigger in mind, which serves as a mission and a compass: we are committed to bringing more Latin American representation to all the spaces that, traditionally, have kept us out, and where others have told our stories and decided how to portray us.

We want to showcase the latina/o experience in a way that is respectful without being boring, and playful without being cliché. We don’t want to settle for stereotypical versions of latinos; we are not all the same (we come from 19 different countries, after all), but we do want to be together in the showing, sharing and celebrating of our culture and our community.

This is Cosa Curiosa Creative Studio, gracias por estar aquí.
